Searching for Kelley/Kelly's and Walsh/Welch/Welsh that lived in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario Canada. They also moved to Wallaceburg, Kent, Ontario, Canada. I do not not if they stayed there or not. They may have been in Quebec also, as daughter Catherine lists that as her birth place in the 1881 census. The parents, James Kelley Kelly and Bridget Walsh Welsh Welch were from Ireland.
My grandfather, Edward Philip Kelley was born Apr. 2, 1893, supposedly in Hamilton. He moved to Lorain County, Ohio in 1904. His mother, Elizabeth Olive also ended up in Ohio.
Below are the facts that I know, along with a lot of UNCONFIRMED family stories. Please do not disregard a possible link based on the tales that were told, as we have disproved some of them already.
Ages and birthdates are questionable, based mainly on census info. Lots of discrepencies between census' and other info we found, ie marriage licenses.

Database: Wallaceburg, Bothwell District, Ontario Census, 1901

Patrick Kelley Mar 10 1871 (1881)Ontario Wallaceburg Town son
Philip Kelley Jan 1 1873 (1883) Ontario Wallaceburg Town son
Edward Kelley Apr 2 1892 Ontario Wallaceburg Town grandson

NOTE: Patrick and Philip's year born is wrong. Actual image has ages listed, which would make Patrick born 1881 and Philip born 1883. Edward is probably wrong also, as all data we have found show him being born in 1893.
Image says James to Canada 1863, Bridget 1850.

Family Stories
Elizabeth Olive was a Kelley who married a Kelly. Her husband (allegedly Philip or Edward Kelly)died in some kind of accident around the birth of my grandfather, Edward Phillip Kelley b. Apr. 2, 1893 or 1892. She left Edward in Canada for years, going to parts unknown. First proof of where she went shows up in Lorain County, Ohio in 1904.
She is using the name Olive Perkins in marriage license to Charles Hathaway. They get divorced in 1906 and she requests to go back to Perkins name. She then immediatly remarries, using the name Elizabeth Olive Perkins. Married to William Gaines. (Both marriage licenses have her listing father as James Perkins, mother Bridget Welch.)
Her death cert. lists parents as James Kelley and Bridget Welch. She died in 1933 in Lorain County, Ohio under the name Elizabeth Olive Gaines. Her obit listed her having a sister, Catherine Smith in Hamilton, Canada.
It is unclear why she was using the surname Perkins. We think she is the Elizabeth listed in the 1881 Hamilton, Canada census. It may be possible that this is wrong, and the son Edward listed in the 1881 census is the father of my grandfather. We are considering the possibility that he may have been illigitimate, due to the somewhat odd tale regarding his parentage. Further info is needed to determine what is true.
An Uncle Jack died on the Battleship Maine in Havana, Cuba Feb. 1898. There was a John Kelly listed on the ship's roster. Haven't been able to find anything further to prove it was the John Kelly listed in the 1881 Hamilton, Canada census.
An Uncle Philip and Uncle Bernard died in WWI. Have been trying to find records to see if I could find a match. Don't know if they were in US or Canadian forces.
An Uncle James died in the Canadian Mounted Police in Quebec. Contacted the CMP and they said that they have no such person.
My grandfather did go back to Canada several times to visit relatives, he never said who he was going to see, nor did he take anyone with him when he went.
My grandfather never mentioned the step father, Charles Hathaway. He talked about helping delivering ice with stepdad, but everyone assumed it was William Gaines. From divorce, it mentioned that Charles Hathaway worked for an ice company.
