Platz from PA to OH to IN

I am trying to find the ancestors of David E. Platz. He was born in St. Joseph County Indiana in 1854(if I recall correctly). I have had no luck finding his parents names. I have no idea if he had siblings. He had several children. It was on a vital record that his parents were both born in OHIO. I do not know what county(ies). It has been said that our Platz line came to America from either Germany or Austria to PENNSYLVANIA. Then they migrated to Ohio and on to northern INDIANA. There is another line of Platz in the northern Indiana area that I believe we are somehow connected to but have no proof. IF anyone is looking for this same branch or has any info I would appreciate it if you would share what you know with me. I have a website started of my Platz line that may help with a connection.
