Hi Joann,

I'm very curious about your JACOB PLAUGHER? I found a family web page on with your JACOB!! There was not a lot of information and, I need to find an e-mail so I can contact the person that submitted the information. My JOHN WILLIAM PLAUGHER and your JACOB PLAUGHER could possibly be brothers! I have always been told that he was Pennsylvania Dutch and the name is so unusual! I have not found anything about him prior to 1823!!!!

My JOHN WILLIAM married, lived, had children in Rockbridge Co., VA.; not too far from Mount Jackson! If you have any information about JACOB'S parents, siblings, point of origin, we could possibly solve the mystery of these two men - and believe it or not - THERE IS A MYSTERY.

JOHN WILLIAM and "PATSY" (Martha Jane Morris), moved to Greenfield, Illinois, probably just as the civil war was starting and some of his children followed, but not all. Some of the sons joined the NORTH,(brother against brother)! In the obituaries for some of the children that moved - made NO MENTION - of the VIRGINIA siblings. If you are into the PLAUGHER genealogy, maybe we need to continue to communicate.

Waiting to hear ANYTHING,
RoseMarie - Rosie
