Sussex Playfords

Im just starting out to find all about my family tree on my fathers side. My grandmother informs me that my grandfather ( Ronald Playford ) and great grandfather ( Thomas Playford ) were from a village in Sussex called Sedlescombe. That they were farmers.

In the 1881 census I find a Thomas Playford aged 29 listed with his wife Mary A Plaford aged 25 and 3 daughters Lillan 3yrs Kate 2yrs and Ann 2 months, however his occupation is that of a Bricklayer Journeyman, he turns up 20yrs later in the 1901 census aged 49 with a daughter Mary 16 and 3 sons Thomas 12 Percy 10 and John 6

Does anyone have these names? Am I on the wrong trail? I'd love any advice, tips or knowledge .
