I don't think Alexis Pleau was anywhere near the Pontiac region. That area did not become the 1800's bustling lumber area until after 1825. It would be nice if true. Maybe Alexis was a 'courier de bois' (excuse my spelling), indian trader. I am stuck with relating any of my Pleau ancestors before Pontiac (1825).
