Jeanne, please do post if you find any more info about John Pledger. I have been seeking with absolutely no success for information on my paternal g-g-g-grandfather Charles Pledger. Here's some info from an almost two-year old inquiry I made about Charles, which in fact might have been in reply to a previous posting of yours:

"I'm looking for info on my gg-grandfather Charles Pledger, born either in 1805 in England and moved to Canada around
1821 (family recollection), OR born around 1815 in England (1860 Wisconsin census info) OR neither of the above! Charles married Rebecca Wessels around 1837 in the Town of Murray, Northumberland County. Their children were John Pledger, born 1838; Mary Pledger, born 1840; Ruth Pledger, born 1841; Elinor Pledger, born 1842 (my g-grandmother); Elizabeth Pledger, born 1844; Caroline Pledger, born 1847;Savoury Pledger born 1849. Rebecca died around 1854 and Charles married Catherine McGrath on Nov 21, 1854 in Belleville."

Finding something on Charles would be a big break; he's been my bottleneck for a long time!
