We come from the same line. My great grandfather was Wesley Pledger, born 1801. Elbert Co., GA. Wesley was a brother of your Thomas Henry Pledger, Jr., and they were sons of Thomas Pledger, Sr. You have an R where I have Thomas Henry. What does the R stand for?

Wesley Pledger was first married to Sarah T Oglesby. They had nine children. His second wife was Eliza Abagail Hamilton and they had two daughters. The second daughter, Eliza Jane Pledger McKinney was my grandmother.

Wesley and family came to Hill Co., TX about the end of the Civil War. Eliza Jane (Jennie) married my grandfather John (J J) McKinney, in 1871, in Hill Co., TX. The Pledgers are buried at Covington, TX. She has a tombstone, but we believe that he is buried next to her, but in an unmarked grave. He died in 1868 and she lived until 1901.

It seems that other Pledgers, Wesley's children, and Hamiltons also came to TX. I will be glad to exchange information with you.
