Hello, I am searching for my families information for the Weavers in the Cherokee County, AL and Chattooga County, GA area. The first generation I have record of is where George Monroe Weaver married Sarah Jane Pledger in Chattooga County, AL on November 07, 1847. They had a daughter named Emily Elizabeth Weaver on April 11, 1855. She married John Francis (John Terry) Murphy on August 28, 1873. Sarah Jane Pledger was a full blooded Cherokee Indian and her parents gave her to a family friend (white family) in Cherokee County AL as the Trail of Tears started in hopes she would have a better life here than on the march to OK. I do not any information on Sarah's parents. I am hoping that someone will remember hearing stories of their family adopting a Cherokee Indian child. I also have a website with my genealogy if anyone can help, Thank you, John Sentell
