There is a William P. Pledger, age 50 in the 1880 Census of Duval Co., FL (Jacksonville area,). He is with wife, Polly Ann Pledger, age 55 and step daughter, Alice M. Hagan, age 16, born in FL. William and Polly Ann were born in GA.
I am wondering if this is William P. Pledger from Elbert Co., GA and suppose his wife, Arrena (Irena) Ford died and left him with the 3 children. I am descended from N.A. (Nancy Adeline) Pledger who was living with her grandmother on the 1870 census. I do not know what happened to the other 2 female children (E.J.K., and L.A.). Perhaps he married this widow Polly Ann Hagan who had her daughter Alice M. Hagen in the household with them in 1880 census. Will try and search this out, because I never knew where William P. Pledger and wife, Arrena Ford Pledger are buried.
If someone has different information on this family please help me out here! I also think that the brother of William P. Pledger, Simeon L. Pledger must have died and his wife, because I see the children with them on the 1860 census of Elbert Co., GA and the children are living with Thomas Maxwell by 1870.
