Hello Wendy. Thank you for the reply to my query. I know very little about the Pleger branch of my family. According to stories I recall hearing over the years, Grampa Pleger emigrated from Germany with his wife in the late 1800's and settled in Oil City.

I visited Oil City in the 50's with my parents but I don't recall meeting with any Pleger relatives at that time.

In 1946, we traveled to a resort near Oil City called Rockmere (sp) which is/was located on the Allegany river, upriver from Oil City. My mother's sister, Lena Kemmer, nee Pleger (obviously) worked there as a cook. Anyway, I recall the place with fondness over the years, but heard that the resort had burned a few years after my visit. Does anyone in Oil City recall this place?

If Frederick Pleger was you Great-Great-GrandUncle and my Grandfather (I'm new to this geneology "stuff")I think that makes us cousins twice ot thrice removed?

I'm hoping to get to Pennsylvania in the next few years. My oldest brother, Paul Brohn, lives in Warren and I have an aunt by marriage to the Pleger line in Erie. Maybe we could get together, Lord willin' and the creek don't rise.

Oil creek, that is!

Fred Brohn
