I tried sending once before so you may get two posts... I am hoping Carroll that you still monitor this message board as I see the last post here was 2001. I also am searching for relatives in Canada, circa mid 1800's. I have hard copy documents up to and including much on my great grandmother Claudia (Marie-Claude Francoeur (dit Leclerc)). Her Parents were George Francoeur (dit Leclerc) and Philomene (Bosse) Francoeur both born in or around 1841. Great Great Grandfather George is supposed to, according to family history be Indian on his mother's side. They were from the Baie-Des-Sables area of Rimouski and I can't seem to get any farther back. Would this group of Francoeur/Leclercs be any relation to you and would you possibly have any info regarding parentage for George? If as I am to understand his mother was Indian then that may be why I am having trouble. I am trying to use the Canadian AINC to track but that takes months and isn't a guarantee. Your's is the first lead I have regarding Francoeur/Leclerc links and Indians, and I am hoping it's because it's the right family. Hope to hear from you, thanx for any help you may be able to give...
