Hello John -
I'm not sure I have much new information for you on this couple, but I did want to write and say that I think we must be second or third cousins.
My grandmother was Claudia Michaud, who married Joseph Beaudoin. Claudia's parents, my great grandparents, were Pierre Michaud and Adelaide Plourde.
Jean Plourde and Adele Levesque, married in 1851 as you have, were Adelaide Plourde's parents. Thus they are my
great great grandparents.
In fact, I do remember my father mentioning that we had cousins with the last name of Messier. Perhaps he was referring to your family.
I have looked for a long time for information on Jean Plourde and Adele Levesque. The only thing I have ever found that might be them is a listing in the 1881 Canadian Census for Jean-Baptiste Plourde and family in Riviere Ouelle, Kamouraska, Que.
In that census there is a Jean-Baptiste Plourde, a widower, born about 1815, living with his children
and Eliza, 21.
Since I do have a birthdate of December, 1859 for Adelaide Plourde, I thought she could be that "Adele, 22" in the 1881 census with this family could be Adelaide Plourde who later married Pierre Michaud (1888).
This is pretty iffy, but it's the closest I've come to finding out more about Jean Plourde and Adele Levesque.
What do you think? Do the names of my grandparents and great grandparents sound familiar to you? and do you think this listing from the 1881 census could be our Jean Plourde?
