Plude/Plourde/Plaud - Kennedy - LaBelle - Leblanc

I am pretty new to genealogy and attempting to trace my Great Grandfather Plude’s line. I have found some information and also a couple of distant cousins that I look forward to getting to know. But I am hoping someone can help me resolve a few of the dead ends I have.

I have found that he is a Plourde, I assume he changed the spelling. My Plourde line is Rene, Pierre, Jean Bapitste, Francios Hubert, Ignace, Joseph Marie 1835, Edward 1866, Edward Rodney 1913.
In the Plourde family reunion book it states on page 16 & 42 that there was only one Joseph, but Ignace Plourde & Emelie Lizotte had 2 sons named Joseph. Also sons Ignace 1833, Louis 1837 & Edouard 1843. They had 3 daughters Philomine 1839, Arthemise 1839 and Hermine 1841.

The oldest Joseph was born 3/28/1832 baptized at St. Pascal, Riviere-du-Loup, Kamouraska, Quebec. He married at Ste Luce, Arthemise Bouchard on 2/19/1857. They had the following children as stated in the 1870 St. Francis Maine (Pluard) census and the 1881 New Brunswick Canada (Plicard) census.

Joseph 1857, Eneas or Angus 1860, Placid 1862, Emilie 1863, Archimise 1865, Thomas 1866, Margurite 1869, Mary 1871, Harriet 1874 & Remi 1878.

Arthemise died 2/14/1900. I do not have a date of death for Joseph.

The second, my g-g-grandfather, Joseph Marie Plourde born 8/31/1835 St. Pascal, Riviere-du-Loup, Kamouraska, Quebec. He married at Ste Luce in Frenchville, ME on 11/2/1862 to Catherine Kennedy daughter of Thomas Kennedy & Nathalie Michaud. Catherine was born 7/21/1844, listed as Marie Catherine Canade in Ste Luce - Frenchville, ME. Catherine Kennedy died 11/9/1873 listed in the St Francois-Xavier register, St Francios, Madawaska, NB, Canada.

I am trying to verify all the children.

The 1870 census for St Francis, ME has the following information:

Last Name spelled Pluard

Husband -St Maria – Joseph Marie & Wife Katie – Catherine Kennedy Children are

Biddie 1863, Edward 1866, Martha 1868, Julia 1870.

I have been reading through the Ste Luce & St Francios parish registers, which are difficult since I don’t speak or read French. I have been able to confirm the following 4 children.

Brigitte Plourde - 8/22/1863 baptized Ste Luce, Frenchville, ME. Father listed as Joseph Plaud & mother Catherine Canade. Summary does have last names as Plourde & Kennedy. God parents are Joseph (her uncle) Plourde & Thalie (Nathalie) Michaud who is Catherines mother. She is listed as Biddie in 1870 ME census.

My great grandfather Edward Plourde was born 3/6/1866, Baptized the 11th as listed in the St Francios-Xavier register, St Francios, Madawaska, NB, Canada. Father listed as Tizzie Plurde and mother Catherine Kennedy. God parents, Thomas Kennedy & Bridget Kennedy, Catherine’s sister & Father. At some point Edward changed the last name changed to Plude. He died 9/10/1937 in Big Falls, Koochiching County, Minnesota. Married Ada LaBelle circa 1893. Ada & Edward had 4 children and named their first child Andrew 9/3/1894 to 8/27/1905, Second son was Walter William Plude 4/13/1899 to 10/25/1978, I’m guessing after his brothers names. 3rd son Edward Rodney (my Grandfather) 1/17/1913 to 3/10/1992. He also had a daughter Celina Agnes 9/24/1897 to 12/1/1988.

Andrew – Andre Plourde born 12/30/1867 baptized Ste Luce, Frenchville, ME. The summary page lists his mother as Catherine Landry, but the detail does state his mother as Catherine (Canade) Kennedy, father as Joseph Plaud. Last name on summary page is Plourde . His god parents are Louis Plourde, Joseph Marie’s brother & Athemise Bouchard (the older Joseph’s wife).

William Plourde born 3/10/1870 baptized on the 12th at St Francios-Xavier register St Francios, Madawaska, NB, Canada. Father listed as Marie Joseph Plourd, mother as Catherine Canady. God parents are Jarail? Martin & Eliz (Catherine’s sister)Canady.

(Martha Plourde) name listed on 1870 Maine census at age 2 years. I cannot find any birth or death information on this name and the birth would be too close to Andrew. I’m wondering if the census taker didn’t make a mistake and this is Andrew, because Andrew is not listed on the 1870 census. Martha could be an misinterpretation of a nickname of Andrew since the others had nicknames on the census form.

(Julia Plourde) name listed on the 1870 Maine census at age 6 months. This must also be an error, I do not find any birth or death information and her birth is close to the verified date of William. Julia could also be a misinterpretation of a nickname for William.

Catherine Kennedy-Plourde died in 1873. I was told that Edward lost both his parents when he was 7 years old. I confirmed Catherine’s death, but can’t find a death record for Joseph Marie Plourde born 8/31/1835.

I searched for the children in the next census after Catherine’s death. I found them in 1881 Canadian census. They were living with Catherine’s sister Brigitte Kennedy and her husband Louis Plourde who was Joseph Marie’s younger brother and Catherine Kennedy’s younger sister.

Brigitte Kennedy born 12/22/1845 Ste Luce. Louis Plourde born 10/22/1837 St. Pascal. They married at Ste Luce on 6/23/1862. Louis died 10/13/1892. On 5/22/1893 Brigitte remarried Isaic Albert in St Francios-Xavier.

1881 St Francis, Victoria, New Brunswick, Canada census has the family listed with the last name of Pluisol. Louis’ name is misspelled also as Lewis.

They are listed as: Louis 44 years & Brigitte 35 years. Children listed as: Brigitte 18 years – Thallie 9 years – Andrew 13 years – William 11 years – Joseph 15 years. It also has Louis’ father Ignace 76 years living with them.

So Louis & Brigitte were raising Brigitte, Andrew & William. This tells me that Joseph Marie was probably deceased also. Edward had left home at the age of 13 and moved to Washington state. By the 1891 Louis & Brigitte were living alone.

I am looking for date of death for my g-g-grandfather, Joseph Marie Plourde born 8/31/1835.

I am searching for other Plourde – Kennedy relatives that might have information to share, also I would like to share the information I have confirmed as it does not seem to be on any Plourde or Kennedy Family Trees I’ve seen.

I’m searching for any information on what happened to Edward (Plude) Plourde’s sister & 2 brothers. Brigitte Plourde born 8/22/1863 – Andrew (Andre) Plourde born 12/30/1867 – William Plourde born 3/10/1870. I'm trying to locate any decendants of these three siblings.

I’m trying to find out where Catherine Kennedy is buried and if those records are online or if I can access them in any way. Date of death 11/9/1873 St Francios-Xavier parish records. Possibly Joseph Marie would be buried in the same cemetery? Maybe near the church? I am unfamiliar with the area.

I was told Edward Plourde/Plude left home at the age of 13. That would have been 1879. He moved from New Brunswick or Maine across the country to Washington, USA.

I am searching for a marriage record for Edward Plude or Plourde in Washington State or Minnesota to Ada LaBelle. The 1892 State of Washington census for city of Ballard, county of Kings lists Ada (La Bell) spelling wrong as being 14 years old living with her parents Lucy & William. I can’t find Edward in that census, but I assume he was there. I know that is where Ada LaBelle met Edward Plude and by 9/3/1894 their first child Andrew was born in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. I was told she married at age 16.

Ada was born 5/6/1878 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her parents were William LaBelle who I assume was from Washington State. Her mother was Lucy (LeBlanc) White born to Rose & Jude LeBlanc-White. Lucy was born 9/11/1860 in I think St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. The LeBlanc’s changed their name to White when they came to the U.S. in about 1874.

I am looking for a birth and death record for William LaBelle. Also a marriage record for Lucy White & William LaBelle, probably in the state of Washington, might have met in Minnesota.
