Many thanks for the info. We have only just begun to look into the Plover background. We have been making enquiries and are awaiting replies, but have discovered the graves of John J and Annie Donlan, she came from Wales originally. Although we don't have dates of birth, we do have dates of burial with ages. John J was buried in October 1937 aged 69, so he was born about 1868 and Annie was buried in December 1943 aged 65 so she was born about l878.
I do not know how Mairead is related, but she does refer to my dad as relative John. I am making enquires about this also. I believe a cousin of my dad has also been working on a family tree so I hope to get some information from them.
I believe my grandfather, Lawrence, son of the above John J visited the home of his parents in Carracastle, Castleduff in the mid l950's and visited his uncle Patrick Plover of Castleduff, which suggests that John J had brothers, again I've made enquiries about this, and his cousin Patrick Frain of the same address.
My great aunt in Australia, daughter of John J has written to say there is a family reunion in Dublin, but she doesn't say when and that 37 Plovers from New York were going. When we are over in America we always look for Plovers in the area phone book, but have never come across any. My parents will be over again in September, so will try then.
