Patrick

Good to hear from you. It was lonely being the only message in this forum for 2 years.

We are related.

I know of Kevin McAdam. He is one of three other Plovers who are in my tree and researching it.

The other researchers are Kevin, Ellen McAdam in Long Island, and Mauread Plover (maiden name) who is in Ireland. Mauread was one of the organizers of the 96 reunion. Since then she had a 4th child (I think) and has been too busy to keep the genealogy working.

I am probably related to you twice: since my mother's parents were Owens and Plover. This is the second time that these two families married, so the relationships get twisted around.

I am doing this all from memory, since I am away from my PC at home (I am away on business)

Please email me back with any info on this year's reunion (even it has passed).

I have two relatives in NJ: Dick and Alba Plover in Tom's River, and John Owens in Springfield.

Does any of this sound familiar to you?

I am very excited that you know of your ancestors a long way back than I do. The family legend (according to my grandmother) is that 3 English brothers came across to Roscommon and bought poor quality land. They did OK, and sold it for better land in Mayo. They split the land 3 ways, but split it so that their houses were next door to each other. One of the brothers is the grandfather of my grandmother.

I have had difficulty proving any of this, so if you actually have real proof of anything then let me know. You can send me a Gedcom and I can read this into my software.

Regards

Steve
