My husband's great grandfather was John Jasper. He was born 2-14-1841 and died 3-25-1927 at the home of his son, William. JJ is buried at Liberty Cemetery in Franklin County, IL. JJ was a 4 Sergt in Co E 56 IL Inf. He mustered out 8-7-1865. On his return home the Steamer General Lyons caught fire killing about 200 people. John married Lucy Marvel on 10-9-1873. They had the following children: Charles Wilson, my husbands grandfather, Hattie, William Arthur, Sarah Ellen, and Bessie. Any additional information appreciated.
