Beth, I see that you have Carters in your lineage. Is there a chance that you have a collateral relationship to a John Poage Carter? Several years ago when my parents wintered in Arizona they became friends with a wonderful couple from the Midwest (probably Illinois, I think). His name was Paul Carter, and he said he had had a grandfather named John Poage Carter, and since my Dad was John Poage they often wondered if they might be related. My Mother says they also looked alike and had the same wonderful sense of humor. I wrote to Mr. Carter's son a few years ago, but we couldn't seem to establish any relationship at that point. I wonder if your Carters could possibly be related to this wonderful man. My Father died in 1982, but I believe Paul Carter is still alive. Please let me know if you have any information about this family. My e-mail address is
Sincerely, Sharon Poage Pakkala
