My first time looking into any genealogy forum from my line. I have a copy of an old book given by grandparents tracing back from the Brannagan name to John Poage, father of Col. George Poage, High Sherriff of Augusta Co. Va 1798. Some info shows Col. George Poage was the son of Gen. John Poage, b. 1726 d. 1789 who m. Mary Blair by Rev. Conrad Speece. Mary Blair Poage b. 1726 in Ireland d. 1789. Looking for Poage family crest. The crest of the "Stricken Boar" with the motto "strong and stout" conferred by James IV of Scotland on Poage of Bulgra.
