Col. John Fludd / Flood

My Grandmother's relatives stood in the living room of a family member's house as he proved lineage of our family as descendants of Pocahontas. Multiple family members swear what they saw was correct. (This is a family very serious about family documentation). Many years ago all the documents proving this lineage burned in a house fire.

My Grandmother spent years trying to retrace the family tree but was unsuccessful. My father and I are now attempting to figure it out. It appears in her notes that she is stuck with Elizabeth Flood marrying Nicolas Smith. Elizabeth's father is Col. John Fludd / Flood of Jamestown, Virginia. I have found that there are claims of Flood being connected but I have not found how.

....and please... I am aware that John Smith is not connected to Pocahontas. I know our family name Smith is connected to Flood but the Smith name is not the connection I am working on. Can anyone help me?
