Hi; Fred: I don't know just what he was trying to do when he, Randolph, wrote that piece. At first guess, I'd think there must have been some controversy back then that got his concern. 1829? I relayed it as I got it because I thought someone should know besides me. I passed over the article at first but later I figured others would find interest in it.
Now,I descend from Pocahontas' sister, Cleopatre, which I had to dig up the existance of, only later to find that a document refering to her was known about. Your Thomas called her; 'my mother's sister, Cleopatre'. but that's another story.
On the face of this item, I'd tend to take it at face value unless something different turned up. In other words; he wrote this about 1829 and since he says 'one of the survivors' then some one else was also alive when he wrote it. But the way he wrote it is what got my interest. Hince; the "A Fly in the Ointment" remark.
So I thought I'd pass it along. I only know about the Randolphs from this Gen Forum and that's not a lot. Good Luck to you.
Elton L. Powell
