FH> VIRGINIA MAGAZINE OF HISTORY AND BIOGRAPHY to a 1698 will Just for clarification purposes ... this was not a Will but a deed. From my notes ... 1698/10/01 Among the VA,James-City records (now destroyed) was the following deed, communicated to the "Southern Literary Messenger" by the once well-known Virginia antiquary, Richard RANDOLPH: "This Indenture made 1st October 1698 between John BOLLING of the County of Henrico & parish of Varina, Gentleman, son & heir of Jane, late wife of Robert BOLLING, of Charles City-Co, Gentleman, which Jane was the only child of Thomas ROLFE, deceased, conveying to William BROWN, of the parish of Wilmington, in the County of James City, 1,000 acres of land commonly called the Fort on Chickahonimy River, as per patent granted to Thomas ROLFE." Having shared this abstract, I advise caution because someone (I don't know who or how) has supposedly proven this deed "untrue". Unfortunately I don't have ANY further details on the validity or non-validity of the document ... but would welcome any input. ------ NICOLE Notify Administrator about this message?
