Hi Elton,

Are you a descendant of Thomas Powell, a cook, who set sail on the 'Sea-Venture' and along with approximately 150 others was ship-wrecked on Bermunda for ten months. While there he was married to servant Mary Persons. This marriage performed by Minister Richard Bucks. By May 21 1610, everyone still living managed to reach Jamestown. I suspect that this Thomas Powell was one the same Thomas Powell who survived the Oppie massacre. Do you know? Thanks heaps (again) for your time and knowledge.

I suspect that my own ancestors were on the 'Sea-Venture', or at least related to some of these passengers whose voyage made the history books. At any event, I have an early Powell/Stamper marriage. Immigrant John Stamper m Susanna Powell. Only a hunch that Susannah is a descendant of Thomas Powell and Mary Persons Powell. And that they initially settled on the Eastern Shore in what is now Accomack Co VA.
