Our family has been told for generations and 300 years tht we are desc. from Pocahontas, but I cannot find the connection.


Re: Hog Island. When the settlers first came to Jamestown, they let a lot of hogs loose on an Island acouss and down river from Jamestown. It probably just looked like an Island, because it had rivers on each side.
Actually it is a Penninsula. If the water was higher it would have become an Island. It is located just across from Mulberry Island where Capt. Pierce had his plantation. He was John Rolfe's father in law for his 3rd Marriage.
