Yes it was the beautiful Mary Bland, daughter of Richard Bland and Elizabeth Randolph, who married Henry Lee and became the Great Grandmother of the famous Civil War Genreal Robert E. Lee.

In Northern Virginia there is a place called Sully Plantation which at one time was owned by Richard Bland Lee, son of Mary Bland. When I visited this plantation and talked to the Historian there, she told me that George Washington had proposted to the beautiful Mary Bland and had been turned down.
