Hi Barbara:

Pocohontas's real name is Matoako, but she was called "Playful One", Little Wanton" or more laboriously "the child wo is always playing somewhere" or just simply Pocahontas. She was the favorite daughter of Chief Powhatan.

General Robert E. Lee's mother was Ann Hill Carter the daughter of Charles Carter of "Shirley. Shirley Plantation is in Charles City Co., VA and was built about 1769 by Charles Carter on land patented in 1660 by his grandfather Edward Hill.

George Washington Park Custis was the grandson of Martha Custis Washington and the father-in-law of Robert E. Lee whose wife was Mary Ann Randolph Custis.

Hope this is of help.

Bernie in Virginia
