I thought I would check on you before I went to bed. I live in Arkansas with my wife and three year old daughter, Emily.

Call your grandfather and get what you can while you can. It's amazing...when you get them going, Grandparents can remember so much. A lot lies with you and your grandfather to help the connection. I am trying to get everything loaded that our Czech relative sent to me on a computer program I've been using called Family Tree Maker. I have 1900 names currently. The Podolak info from Czech is very detailed and sometimes hard to read due to translation. I will gladly send it to you. The towns mentioned in Czechoslovakia are Mladosovice and Tesinov. The information is so clear that the house numbers are given for several hundred years meaning we can visit exact spots where the Podolaks lived. Graves are not found though. WWII ruined those.

An interesting point to know. Many people are named for the house they lived in. A bizarre thought for Americans. Such that, if you lived in a house owned by the Jones, you might take the name Jones. Hmmm. I haven't figured that out quite.

Apparently several Podolaks did come to the U.S.and one to Canada. I will search closely for those individuals and hope we can connect. Actually, your family was the next one I wanted to link with as I figured, like you, that the Nebraska, Iowa connection was too close to be coincidence.

I can be reached at or my office telephone is (800)487-4880 ext.221. I am a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley, so I will answer or my secretary can take the message. I look forward to further correspondence. Every day I work on genealogy. Not always Podolak but something. I also have an Irish side that has been harder to take to the old country. Kind of hard to believe Czech was easier. I found him (Podolak)by a search on Hmmm. Thank goodness for the internet.
