Thanks for the info...I made a trip to New York to hit the archives for the Podaski name...I found out We did in fact spell it differently around my Gr-gr- grandfathers time...Noone in the current generation remembers how it used to be. I sent away for some social security and military records hoping I can locate that old spelling.....
I also found out It is very possible we did originate between Poland and Austria...It seems to be taking a long time to research the polish side due to border changes and how they came overland from the eropean states....will let you know as soon as I find out more info....I also found some other variations in spelling while at the new york Geneology archives.
Podgwiski--Podlasky--Podracki--Polansky--Polasky--Podolsky and Podgarsky...the last one comes closet to Podaski as on the 1920 census The name and birthday coninside with with my grandfathers as do the household members...so keep your fingers crossed I get something more concrete.....lol....
