My Grandfather came to Detroit MI, around the Michigan Ave. area about a mile from Livernois Street. They came from Alytaus, Lithuainia around 1904. He was married at St. Casimir Catholic Church in 1904. The church was located at 23rd Street and Myrtle Ave in Detroit MI. My Grandfather's name was Peter J. Podolski. He had 2 brothers John and Mike. I believe Mike had a son Charlie. I am not too familiar with John or Mike Podolski, they would be my uncles. The 1st generation Podolski's in America would have been born in the late 1800's. My Grandfather Peter J was born around 1876. My father Peter G. Podolski was born in 1905, he married my mother Rose in 1947. My brother Peter M. Podolski was born in 1952 and I was born in 1956. Please contact me, it is possible that you are descended from this family. That would be great. I would be interested in hearing about your Podolski Family and their involvement with the meat industry. My Mother's Father Michael Naruszewicz was a butcher and had meat markets around Michigan Ave area. The longest running market he had was the Wolverine Market on Michigan Ave Between 25th ST. and Roosevelt St. It was there during the widening of Michigan Ave in the early 1940's up until 1975. My Mother and Father owned and operated Alytaus Bar on Michigan Ave and 23rd St. from 1947 until they sold it in 1977. We lived over the bar.
