Am not sure it helps but the spelling of the German Pfaffenberger as Puffenberger tends to be those in West Virginia. However, most who migrated west were those members of the family that settled in Tulpehocken in Berks Co.,PA shortly after they arrived in 1733 from Germany. The Second edition of "From Germany to Antietam, The early history of the Pfaffenberger family," Xlibris, 2003,may be helpful. You can read excerpts at Amazon.com by going to Books and Thomas Poffenberger. Good luck. Tom
