The West Virginia branch that spelled the name with a U- Puff, are in the line of George Jr., the oldest son of Johann Georg Pfaffenberger who arrived with his family in 1733. The olderst son was killed in an Indian raid during the French and Indian War. However, two of his sons, George and Peter survived.
