George Washington Buffenbarger was born 1773 in Hardy Co., Virginia and is my 3rd great grandfather. He died after 1870 in Clark Co., Ohio. According to my records George Washington Buffenbarger was the son of Peter Pfaffenberger/Buffenbarger born 1747 in Tulpehocken Twp., Berks Co., Pennsylvania and died 11/17/1718 in Hardy Co., Virginia. Peter Pfaffenbarger/Buffenbarger was the son of Johann Georg Pfaffenbarger born 2/25/1817 in Ulmet, Rheinpfalz, Germany and his first wife Catherine. Johann Georg immigrated to Phildelphia, PA in 1733 on ship "Pink Mary" and died 1758 in Hardy Co., Virginia in an Indian raid. Johan married Anna Martha Unknown about 1744 in Germany or Berks Co., Pennsylvania. I have other Wilkinson family ancestors from Berks Co.Pennsylvania who eventually migrated to Clark Co. Ohio and intermarried with the Buffenbarger family. The Buffenbarger and Poffenberger and Puffenbargers all seem to be related through their common ancestor Johan Georg Pfaffenberger.
