Hi Susan,
Yes you are correct that this is the Henry that was listed in the 1860 census as a stage driver with his sons William and Joseph. He was also listed again in the 1880 census as the "City Marshall".In the 1880 census 2 more children, Charles and Harriet, aka "Hattie" were listed.Charles was born Aug 26, 1865 and died Oct 3, 1909.Harriet or "Hattie" was born February 1874 and died Jan 26, 1959.I got their birth and death dates from the Law-Jones Funeral Home records through the Carroll County Gene Society.I can send you a copy if you wish.Through these same records the birth date of Henry A is Sep 26, 1832 and died March 7, 1899.Christiana was born Feb 1836 and died June 30, 1911.
It is hard to say whose parents Henry's were.I'll have to look at Thomas Poffenberger'sbook again. One thing is sure, it can NOT be the one that married Margaret Schlosser.Chances are, this Henry A. would have to be more closely related to the other earliest Poffenberger settler of Carroll County that I am descended from, which is Samuel Poffenberger and Catharine Schamel.Samuel descended from Henry, Henry descended from Samuel aka "Simon" and Simon descended from John(B) and Mary.
