Family originated in Scotland near Dumfries.Name synonomous with Pollock & closely linked to Maxwells. Many sent to Ireland as tennant farmers for English/Scots gentry after Cromwell's invasion during 16& 1700s. General exodus to Canada, especially United States, & small number to Australia early 1800s. No French/Huguenot connection at all. Have all Australian history and considerable Irish records on request.
