Re: Albert Pogue

I do not know the parents of the wife of Albert Pogue, but I do have some information that might be useful.

I found a newspaper abstracts of "The Baxter Bulletin" published at Mountain Home, Baxter Co, AR, on 27 Nov 1903. It was published on that date that a marriage license was issued for Albert Pogue, age 22, and Dollie HADSON, age 16.

On the 1910 census Albert's wife is called Ada, but the child is called Dollie. I would think it would be a safe assumption that 'Ada' and 'Dollie HADSON' are the same person.

Same newspaper, one would think, would have published a marriage license for Albert's half sister Hattie, but a search to 1915 did not reveal any information on her marriages, to Henry Beaver nor to Albert Hensley.

I did find a published bio on Henry Beavers family He had 2 more marriages after Hattie, and several children by his second wife. Same bio said "... one son came from this marriage [to Hattie], James Robert Beavers (1907-1997). He married Peal LEDGER (1910-1997) daughter of Milam and Mary Wolfe. Their children were Betty, Mary & Patsy. ..." Henry's second marriage was to Lillie SIMPSON, but it did not mention any relationship to Hattie's mother Mary Frances SIMPSON.

I found an index to AR death certificates, and a search to 1940 did not reveal an early death, in AR at least, for Albert. I found the exact date of his father's death.

From "AR Death Records 1914-1923"
James Pogue died Searcy Co AR, 5 April 1922

I had not found Albert on any other census besides the 1900 census in Yell Co AR. In 1880, the census was taken a month before his birth, so he is not on that census. James is living with a 'Mary E.' on that census, but his first wife was 'Maryann Alice WRIGHT.' This is next door to her mother, but with the initial incorrect on the original census, I wonder if James had 3 wives, and Maryann Alice is a second wife, and Mary Francis is a 3rd?

Do you have proof of who the mother of Albert was? Mary Alice WRIGHT says on the the 1910 census that she has had 6 children and 5 are alive. She has her 3 Pogue children with her in OK, and the daughter she had by Joseph Dragoo. Another child alive??? This would be Albert if genealogy speculations are correct.

Do you have any "proof's" to connect James Pogue of AR to the Webster Co MO Pogue line??? The family of his son Wm has several members that are living. They have no memory of the existence of Hattie nor of Albert, or family visitations by them. Wm's death certificate information was given by his son, and it says 'unknown' for the information on the parents of Wm. Same son is living today.

Maryann Alice WRIGHT had a daughter Rosa POGUE who is living with her maternal grandmother, Salina America HILL Wright, back in Webster Co MO, called granddaughter by Salina on the 1900 census. This would indicate a of the connection to the Maryann Alice WRIGHT Pogue Dragoo in Jay, Delaware Co, OK as the being connected to the Webster Co MO Pogue line, definite proof that she came from there. Note that Kelly Sartin, the maternal grandfather of James Pogue, lived only a few houses from the Wright family. In 1870, James is age 13 and Mary A. A. WRIGHT is age 9, only 4-5 houses apart on the census.

I have yet to find James Pouge on the 1910 census, and would appreciate that information if you know it. I had not found Albert's location in 1910 either until I saw your message. I don't know of any future locations for him either. I appreciate your sharing the 1910 location in your message.

Sorry I could not be more help on Ada's parents, but hope the time and place will help you find them.

Happy to send any information or documentation I have.

Evelyn
