James P. Pogue b 1822-24 Alabama d after 1880 Hurricane Creek, Lauderdale MS. is my 2nd GGrandfather, and I was stuck there. I followed the trail of Judge David Pogue and his brother Robert Pogue b. Tennessee 1780's on a tip from this forum. The brothers were in Mississippi territory in an 1816 census and in Clarke County, Alabama in an 1830 census. While David married Elizabeth Bostick and stayed in Alabama, Robert married Sarah....... and moved to Whynot, Lauderdale County, Miss after 1830. David's children have names similar to James P. children, but I can find nothing to tie Robert and Sarah to be James P.Pogue's parents. On the 1830 Clark, Alabama it shows Robert having 5 children, 3 sons under age 10 and 2 daughters under age 10. That is the last record I find of Robert Pogue. I have not found any land purchases or Census records after that in Alabama or in Mississippi. If anyone knows the names of his children or any info on Robert Pogue. I would love more information. I believe one of his sons may have been named Robert. I also believe David and Robert also had a brother named Andrew, found on a 1813 Clark county Ms census, as were his brothers. I am also stumped finding their parents from Tennessee as there are two leads a John with two different wives names on Ancestry.com. Anyone needing or wanting to share info on Robert & Sarah Pogue, James P. Pogue or his son Martin Columbus Pogue please contact me.
