fr a Berry cuz...interesting comments...

"They were English Berry's and may have come in thru Delaware or James city
.Old Henry may be the first Berry in America. The posted data is
contradictory, but he had a lot of descendants. Augustine Berry in
Rockingham>Russell county about 1794. His father was Enoch Berry and in the
line of old Henry Berry. Most of the Berry's were of Norman( Viking descent
) some are found in all parts of the British Isles especially Scotland.Very
confusing, no one has connected the dots. Were Patriarchs William ,James of
Ireland, and John brothers? Lots of contradictory juxtapositions on the net.
I ordered the Montgomery county SK CD of the 1810-20-30 census and found our
ggg. James living there as expected in the 1830 census. The surprising part
was they were a family of 10 !! I wonder how many more children they had
starting from their marriage date of 1802? They had 1 girl in 1-5 year old
category,Margaret was 46 and he was about 78.
The reason I was interested in Augustine Berry is because he was in Russell
county about the time of our James. But Russell county was formed from
Washington county in 1786. The Holston river, just a few miles above
Abingdon, borders Russell county. We seem to be related to the Washington
county clan that came thru PA.>Augusta> Washington county. Our James was born
in Bucks county PA. in 1751.The Clinch river of Russell county runs clear
down to TN. and passes the Cumberland Gap on it's way. This was Danny Boone
country , full of Creek Indians, Cherokees and other native Americans . It
was a beautiful chunk of land stolen from the Indians.
