It is quite common for German familys to follow the Lutheren faith, In the German Lutheren Church in Lafayett IN. St. James where our family attended services there were a lot of Pholman, Pholmann,Pollmann, Pollman,Poehlman and even Pullman,Pallman ??
I wondered if they just didnt know how to spell it the American ( english ) way ?? Although these spellings are found in Germany too. I have never been able to find my Pollmann line in Germany and probably due to this spelling thing also I have corrisponded with Pollman, and Pollmann GEN Forum about women that remarried and the Pollman name was carried on ,which was common apparently in the 1800s in Germany?
