Stokes County Census of 1800 shows David Poindexter with lots of children(see PDA for names). William is listed as one of David's children on the PDA list. In the 1830 Stokes Co. census William is shown as a head of household. The 1850 census list individuals names.William 57, Ann 46, Mary 20, Elizabeth 18, David 15, William 13, Caroline 11, Salena 9, John 5. There is a Mary who is 54 listed. The 1860 Census lists William 66, David 25, Susan 25, Elizabeth 26, Caroline 22, Salena 20, John 16, Eliza 2.Also there is a D.H. Poindexter household with possibly William'a brothers and sisters still there . His brother, John Fox, has a separate household because the 1840 census index shows D.H. p177, J.F. p 191,Thomas P 138, and William p 191. I hope this helps. I think my g-g-grandfather Joseph J. Poindexter was William's brother. My g-grandf.ather was Gabriel Whitfield Poindexter who served in the Civil War
