Poitras and or Putrah

I have been recearching my Putrah family for nearly 40 years and only recently received the encouraging information that he was originally Joseph Lucien Poitras m. Margurite Pariseau in 1851 in St. Roch de l'Archigan, QC. They had one child, my great grandmother, Mary while still in St. Roch de l'Archigan then moved to New York state before the birth of a son Joseph Philippe Putrah (Poitras?)and then onto Wisconsin in 1856/7. The first record I have of them other than through family tradition is in Lincoln County, South Dakota land records of 1872 and census of 1880. Their were five other children born to Joseph and Margaret Putrah. Is anyone missing a Joseph Poitras from their family, that might be my Joseph Putrah? I know that both Joseph and Marguarite (Margaret) are common given names, but I have found it pays to follow every lead when looking for lost ancestors.
