I am a decendent of a Lafontaine and a Poitras. My great-grandmother was Lorraine Lafontaine. Her son, John Armand Poitras was my grandfather. I do know that Lafontaine moved to the US from Canada and settled in California where she worked as a movie lot hairdresser, I think it was the MGM company that she worked for before opening her own shop in Hollywood, California. She was also married to Max Baer, Sr., who was the 1933-34 world heavyweight boxer. Before her death, I received a letter from my Grandma Lorraine, stating that she had wishes for me to visit and help her put together her family album, as she had been collecting pictures and even drawings of family members through the years, thus igniting my desire to learn as much about my ancestors as possible.

From the marriage before that, she had two sons that I know of. Jean Armand Poitras (deceased) and Gordon Romeo Poitras (living in Florida). Jean Armand was my grandfather.

I am interested in any information about my family and lineage. This is the first link I have found that had both names mentioned.

Any information that anyone wants to share with me about this family would be welcome and most appreciated.
