I doubt that "Stefan" is my grandfather since he arrived here in 1887 or 1888. He was already married in Gbely when he left. The point of entry is of interest, however. I have never found him listed on any manifest , to date. Baltimore might be a good source for my search.

Both Stefan and Polacek are such common immigrant names...The search is a difficult one , even when searching for exotic names. Thanks, Irene.
