My grandfather was Ludwig Koenig born 1920s in Krakow, Poland. I don't know when exactly he was born or who his parents were, but he had a brother and a sister; Arnold Koenig, who married an Irmgard and had three children, Manuela, Sonja and Wolfgang, and Ludwig's sister was Ludvica, who married a man with the surname Binkowska. Ludvica had two children, Marek Binkowska who remained in Krakow where he was born and his parents lived, and Kasia Binkowska, who moved to Hamburg in Germany. As for the rest of Ludwig's life, he spent various periods living in Cuxhaven, Celle and Vechta in Lower Saxony, and Freising near Munich. He spent much of WWII as a POW in the USA, and finally met my grandmother (b.1940) in Rampton, Cambridgeshire, England, a camp to which he was later taken. My grandparents were married at Gretna Green, Scotland, and lived together in the north of Germany, with their children, Barbara, Isabella, Angela, Kathleen (my mother) and Paul. The early part of Ludwig's life remains a mystery to me, although I know that he had been married before he met my grandmother, I believe to a lady by the name of Eva, with whom he had two children, Olaf and Sylke. It would be interesting to know more about Ludwig's life before he met my grandmother in the 1950s and his parents/family.
Thanks,
Jamie
