I am just starting to research relative in Poland. Prior to this, I have been dealing with the British Isle. I am a little lost about how to proceed. First, I know that his baptismal name in Poland was not Andrew. Does anyone have an idea agout the Polish/Russian equivalent of Andrew? Would that even be a consideration in picking a "new name" I have found someone in the Ellis Island database who matches his date of birth and the year that he said he arrived in the 1930 census. Howeverm the name is Antoni Also, is there a central clearinghouse of Polish records. Since we are all Catholic, does the Vatican have these records and are they made public. What a resource that could be. Any thought or comments would be appreciated.
