Dear JoLyn,
very difficult, almost impossible to help you without the EXACT place in Poland, try to find any document giving the place of birth, last residence before leaving Poland, etc., for today I will try to explain you maybe what could mean his full name: Peder Javorsky Pannie in Polish might be:
PIOTR JAWORSKI, "PANNIK" as COA
Now it's kind of game with the history and intellectual speculation: Your Piotr, Polish partiot and soldier, had to abandon homeland in/after the Napoleon times here, and emigrated to your part of the West Europe, his family surname JAWORSKI could be as nobled in old Poland, with very rare Coat of Arms named "Pannik" (confirmed by "Herbarz Polski" of Kasper Niecieski, 1839-1845), generally families Jaworski in old Poland were COA "Nalecz" and "Sas"; it's all we can tell you for today, do hope this helps a little in your wonderful search, good luck - Powodzenia!, Tad, RootsPoland, Warsaw + non-for-profit this forum help room, where you can email scans of any old family documents connected to Poland: http://www.narodowa.pl/help
