Someone in Denmark found some more information for me. She got this on a web page of a genealogy society in Samso, Holbaek, Denmark and translated it for me.

It says, "Panny. Soldier 1807-1814. Peter Panny Jaworsky was a Pole belonging to the garrison on Kyholm (an island close to the north east coast of Samsø) - he married a Samsø girl and his family was given the last name Panny." During the war against England 1801-05, 400 soldiers were stationed on the island Kyholm to protect the Langør harbour which was a harbour of refuge for the privateer ships.

She also found a webpage showing a family tree which had this same man, Peder Javorsky Pannie. They show a birth place of Krakov, Polen. Is this Krakow, Poland? Where would I continue my search? Would I look in Church records?
