I know I am not related to your family but I came across a previous message from Norbert. He says that, "His nearest relative in his native land was his wife Jadwiga in “labin, Warshau, Russia”. I have been working on my family history since 2001 and am the 2002 Texas State Genealocial Society's First Place Winner.

Labin is short for Lublin, Poland

Warshau is another name or Warsaw, Poland.

Before WWI and II, that area of Poland was occupied by Russia.

Visit this site as it has helped me out many times: http://www.jewishgen.org/jri-pl/jriplweb.htm

Type in your family's last name, change nothing else, and then click search. Be prepared to wait like 2-3 minutes as it will load all results. Then click on Lublin or Warsaw Gabernia (Province). See what results you can find. If you need more info. please contact me at lancegossenltd@yahoo.com
