HELP: Lublin, Poland to Detroit, MI - MACHENSKY

OK ... need some help here, as I have no idea how to find any more information on this MACHENSKY - MACHEN - MICHON Polish family, who made it to US from Lublin, Poland, around 1920.

What I have so far is this: MARION PAULINE MACHANSKY (maybe born MARIE), was born 17 April 1906. She married (prob. in Detroit, Michigan) to FREDERICK H. BRANDT, 3 July 1934.

Apparently Maria Pauline Machansky immigrated 1920 (age 14), from Lublin, Poland. Her parents we think were named JOSEF MACHANSKI and TEKLA (THERESA ?) KLODA. I asume they immigrated too, but can find nothing on them. Not sure if this family went to Detroit area, or were in some other state first. Maybe in Rochester, New York, area.

We have a piece of paper which has this on it: MISZCYSYN. Is this the last name, maybe in Polish ?

In the US, the brothers of Marion seem to have changed their last name to MICHON or MACHAN.

She had brothers: William, John, and Louis. A sister named Jane.

I cannot find much at all to fill in these blanks, so am hoping that someone else may already know about this family, or be able to find more on them in Polish records.

In 1930 Census, Detroit, Wayne Co, Michigan .... I find brothers: Walter J. Machenski (age 32, b. Poland) and Louis Machenski (age 27, b Poland). Both immigrated 1906. Their father born Poland, and mother born Galicia.

Also in 1930, Detroit, census: William Machan (age 34, b. Poland) and his mother Tellie (?) Machenski (age 57, b. Galicia). He immigrated 1907, and she in 1906.

So .... are these people related ? Maybe. But .. the immigration years don't add up, as Marion or Maria seemed to come in 1920.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks so much,

Jön-Eric Thomas, Lexington, NC USA (
