Hi Wayne,
If I can help:
The Lomza could be not the exact place of origin, as many immigrants gave in her documents Lomza as the capital of the province (Russian - gubernia Lomzynska, north of Polish capital Warsaw), you must find the exact birth/living place of your Gpa Josef, our friend from this forum can tell you to search and find his origin, for eg with Ellis Island database they are 4 Joseph-Josef (Jozef in Polish) Sieczkowski's:
46 Sieczkowski, Josef P Dynowskie, Galizia 39 1873 1912
47 Sieczkowski, Josef Yawoonik, Austria 25 1885 1910
48 Sieczkowski, Josef Kolo, Russia 18 1889 1907
49 Sieczkowski, Josef Dobrowna 23 1876 1899
If Lomza was the province, your Josepg might be the 4th one. Please check these records details, for eg his destination in the U.S., the name of the relatives in the U.S. and Poland, etc.
Please give us the immigration year, and estimated year of birth, please tell us more if you can in order to locate the exact POB of your Gpa.
Finally from me for today, Sieczkowski is a popular name in Poland, and with this map of Poland you can see the surname location basing on the Polish census 2002:
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/sieczkowski.html = 1067 adults in Poland surnamed Sieczkowski, and some of them from north of Warsaw.
This could be a long journey to uncover the family origin, I wish you the best of finds, this forum is the best on planet! :)
Tad
