Generic answers.
"History of the Pollard Family of America" by Maurice Pollard; 2 volumes; concentrates on the northern families with notes about the southerns as well.
I would go and bang around on Ricks Genealogy for a while;

1. Boston Pollards; William and Anne Pollard. He a shopkeeper b abt 1620; she b abt 1622. Anne was first English female to step on Boston soil in 1630. Mainly confined to Boston area.
2. Billerica, Mass; Thomas and Mary Farmer Pollard of Coventry Eng, settled in Billerica in 1692. Comprise the majority of the Northern Pollard family.
3. Nantucket, Mass. Philip Pollard m Mehitable Gardner 5 Feb 1724 in Nantucket. Line died out abt 1860.
4. New Jersey. Family tradition says 3 brothers came from England and settled in Morris Co, NJ. John listed as juror in 1685.
5. Talbot/Dorchester Co, MD Edward Pollard m Martha Carnell abt 1640 in Talbot Co, MD. Descendants found in Dorchester Co and migrated to Adams Co, OH.
6. Virgina Pollards. Robert Pollard receives a land warrant on 8 Jan 1656 in Lancaster, Co VA. Marries bef 28 Sep 1659 Mary, widow of Vincent Standford. Family establishes beaurocratic patriarchy in VA. Migrates into NC, SC, GA, AL and westward. Not all the Pollards in early VA fall neatly into Robert's family. Presence of another early Pollard in VA is implied but not yet found.
"Southern Pollards" by Jack Gedde covers the VA Pollards; a smattering of well known southern Pollards; and Benjamin Pollard of Greenville, SC whose descendants moved into AL
