I always thought that my family were the only Pomantes in the U.S. I was very surprized to find more Pomantes here. My Grandfather Atillio was born in Silvi, Italy on March 9, 1886. His parents were Francesco Saverio Pomante and Annarella Collini. I know of 2 brothers Tommaso born 1903 and Antonio born 1905. Atillio married Maria Fragassi in 1907 and they had 3 sons, Francesco, Alfredo and Tommaso. Maria died of cholera and Atillio came to the U.S. where he married my grandmother, Gaetano Trinchini in Rhode Island. They later moved to New York and then to New Jersey. Where are you from? I have a niece named Amy Pomante. She is 18 years old. It is possible that we are related. My father remembers my grandfather telling him that his family's home was on the top of the mountain in Silvi.
